Why Girls?

Girls empowered are a key driver for sustainable development.

GIRLS Inspire is a Commonwealth of Learning (COL) project to provide schooling and skills development to some of the world’s most vulnerable and hard-to reach girls. Community organisations in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Mozambique and Tanzania are mobilised to leverage the power of open and distance learning (ODL) to end the cycle of child, early and forced marriage (CEFM) and to address other barriers that prevent girls’ economic participation.

This brand features an abstract flower image in the logo to represent the flourishing of women and girls who will be enriched by learning new skills on their way to empowerment. It also promotes the flourishing of the environment and communities in which they are living. It celebrates growth, health and change.

GIRLS Inspire emphasises that girls are at the centre of this project. It recognises that girls have the ability to inspire their peers to grasp the opportunities for learning and to reach for the stars.
